About the club

Färjestad BK from Karlstad has the most successful track record in the history of the Swedish top league, the SHL (former Elitserien). Färjestad has played in all 38 seasons since the league debuted in 1975 and is top-ranked in the table that sums up the records of all 38 seasons. Färjestad has played in 19 championship finals - of which eight have been since 2001 - and has won the title nine times. The club was founded on 10 November 1932, just a slap shot away from Löfbergs Arena, the 8,500-seat arena built in 2001 where the club offices are also located. The ice rink inside the arena is situated in the exact same spot where the club' s first rink was built in 1957. The new arena was one of the first new multi-purpose and club-owned arenas in Sweden. Tradition and success are key words in the club history. There is also a long history of putting successful players in important positions in the club office after they retire from playing.
